Atheism: the first movements toward reality and enlightenment
Needless to say literary writing is so difficult and this blog is used just as a respite from that drudgery. For any man who has given his life to some field of knowledge to make the world slightly more enlightened than what it was before he must arrive at the conviction that athieism is not enlightenment but the beginning of rejecting all the lies and illusions of the past. In short, it is not the truth unto itself but a high enough enbankment from which to be out of the darkness and see possibilities that are not attached to myth. To use our rational powers from which to excuse "god" of atrocities by arguing for example that those who died in or jumped out of the World Trade Center towers was not negligence of the supreme creator but untimely deaths that are part of a higher plan to which we cannot understand is ludicrous. To seek a guidebook for operating our lives ethically that is nothing but archaic fables is madness. If it is true that the masses of man would fall into a hedonistic state if it were not for these doctrines mandating morality then this is to say that there is no compassion or attempt to understand fellow man. If there is some supreme being out there "He" is obviously indifferent to the plain of existence by which human beings live and we cannot understand "Him" any more than a cockroach understands the being that stomps its foot. The cockroach runs but does not know anything other than the vibrations of the foot are strong and that these vibrations could be dangerous. It does not conceptualize the man who creates the vibrations. We are the same in understanding bigger issues like the meaning of it all if there are even bigger issues like this. We are forced to be somewhat myopic but being myopic is not equivalent with being ignorant and refuting the obvious. If there is suffering in the world we do not need to say that it is for the best and ignore those who experience it most. Neither god nor hedonism give us excuse to ignore the fact that the world is full of disparity or those who suffer great injustices in this world
